In a special ceremony held at the American University of Iraq-Baghdad (AUIB) campus, AUIB and Toyota Al Iraq Company (Toyota Iraq) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a long-term partnership based on a framework for collaboration on research, co-organized seminars and workshops, making available internship opportunities for AUIB students, exchanging knowledge and expertise, and joining efforts at sustainability initiatives.
As per the signed MoU, Toyota Iraq will support AUIB research centers and institutes in conducting research on areas of mutual interest, serving the growth and development of both parties who will explore co-developing educational programs on subjects such as Hybrid technology and “The Toyota Way,” the two pillars of which are “respect for people and continuous improvement.” Within the same framework, AUIB will provide training programs for Toyota Iraq's staff on technical skills, soft skills, and Business English.
“This university is going to be a magnificent university, especially with partners like Toyota,” remarked AUIB President, Dr. Michael Mulnix, at the signing ceremony, expressing his hope that AUIB and Toyota Iraq would not only be “good professional colleagues, but also good friends.”
The President of Toyota Iraq, Mr. Sardar Al-Bebany, expressed his happiness and pride at establishing collaboration with AUIB. “This is a memorable day, as we reached a point where we can train our people in Iraq… I believe we have a big responsibility, not just in education, but also in developing our laws and regulations, as we are facing many difficulties before the development of the private sector,” added Mr. Al-Bebany, saying: “with this amazing organization (AUIB), we can do a lot.”
